Report on Monday, July 10 meeting

There were about 15 in attendance. The group discussed these topics as possible areas of focus: Voter Registration, actively helping ARUSD get better school board candidates, bail reform, creating a resource guide for underserved people, understanding better the Russia/Ukraine situation, helping local helping agencies (churches, etc.) to interface with each other and responding to the “review” of National Marine Sanctuaries. We wrote postcards indicating our objections to undermining the protections currently in place which keep marine sanctuaries safe from exploitation. See how to send your own comments here: http://sanctuaries.noaa.gov/about/executive-order-13795.html.

It was decided that Vicky Vyedina, an IESJ member born in Ukraine, will speak at our next regular meeting on Saturday, July 22nd, 10:30 AM at Alum Rock United Methodist church. Our next evening meeting will be at 7:30 PM on August 14th also at ARUM. We are discussing organizing the Indivisible March on August 26th which will focus on Voter Suppression. Ellen has begun getting some items in place, but we will need help procuring appropriate speakers and with various logistical tasks.
